RAWA PENING
Pagi Hening di Atas Ketinting

Tempat-tempat eksotik nan kaya akan mitos atau legenda selalu saja menarik untuk dikunjungi. Hal itu juga yang mendorong kami untuk mengunjungi Rawa Pening, sebuah telaga alami seluas 2.670 hektar yang terletak di cekungan terendah Gunung Merbabu, Gunung Telomoyo, Gunung Ungaran, dan Gunung Kendil. Gugusan pengunungan tersebut membetuk bentang perisai indah dan menambah kecantikan telaga yang tidak bisa dilepaskan dari mitos Baruklinting, seekor ular besar yang dipercaya menjadi penunggu Rawa Pening. Mitos versi lain mengisahkan bahwa Baruklinting adalah bocah lelaki yang menancapkan lidi di tanah dan menantang penduduk desa yang jahat untuk mencabutnya. Namun tidak ada seorang pun yang berhasil selain Baruklinting. Setelah lidi tercabut, dari dasar lubang menyemburlah air tiada henti hingga menenggelamkan desa dan menjadi sebuah telaga yang dikenal dengan nama Rawa Pening.
Pagi masih muda dan dingin, bahkan mentari belum sepenggalah tingginya saat motor kami berhenti di parkiran Bukit Cinta. Suasana masih sepi, belum ada satu pun wisatawan yang datang. Patung seekor naga besar sedang menganga yang menyambut di pintu masuk semakin mempertegas mitos tentang Baruklinting sebagai penjaga telaga. Rupanya mulut naga tersebut merupakan pintu masuk menuju ruang koleksi ikan dan reptil yang disimpan di akuarium. Dari gerbang naga kami mendaki anak tangga menuju Bukit Cinta, sebuah bukit kecil di tepi Rawa Pening yang dipenuhi dengan pohon pinus dan kursi-kursi beton tempat bercengkerama, kemudian turun ke arah dermaga. Seorang nelayan telah menunggu dengan ketintingnya dan siap mengantarkan kami mengitari Rawa Pening.
Petualangan pagi hari di atas ketinting pun dimulai. Secara perlahan kapal menyisir tepian telaga, menyibak rimbunnya eceng gondok, kemudian melaju ke tengah rawa. Suara mesin kapal yang berpadu dengan riak air rupanya mengagetkan burung kuntul kecil yang tengah mencari makan, sontak burung itu terbang tinggi dan hinggap di gerumbulan eceng gondok. Capung dan kupu-kupu juga terlihat berterbangan di atas air dan mengitari kapal. Di tengah telaga terlihat beberapa nelayan sedang menunggu keramba ampung, menangkap ikan, atau memetik eceng gondok guna dijadikan aneka kerajinan. Keberadaan Rawa Pening memang menjadi berkah tersendiri bagi warga, karena mampu menopang sektor wisata, perekonomian, pertanian, perikanan, dan juga pengelolaan energi.
Ketinting yang bergoyang tiap kali kami pindah duduk ke sisi kanan atau kiri pun terus melaju. Mentari beranjak tinggi, kilau cahaya yang membias di telaga menciptakan semburat keemasan yang megah. Sedangkan hangat sinarnya mulai menerpa wajah sekaligus mengusir kabut yang masih bertahan di pucuk-pucuk pohon serta puncak pegunungan yang membentengi tandon air raksasa ini. Menghabiskan pagi di telaga yang tenang dengan latar pegunungan yang kokoh, mengamati detak kehidupan yang berdenyut dari tiap sudut telaga, serta menyaksikan nelayan yang terus melaju dengan jongkong berisi jala, semuanya menjadi rangkaian pembuka hari yang sempurna.
