Seperti apa hasilnya jika rangkaian kisah yang terpahat di Candi Prambanan divisualisasikan dan dikemas menjadi pertunjukan seni? Pagelaran Sendratari Ramayana yang menjadi jawabannya. Cerita yang diambil dari epos karya Walmiki ini diangkat menjadi pertunjukan menawan yang memadukan aneka ragam unsur kesenian mulai dari seni tari, musik, drama, lagu, hingga pemilihan kostum, make up, tata pangung dan tata cahaya yang megah sehingga menjadi pertunjukan seni yang digemari oleh wisatawan baik domestik maupun mancanegara.
Berbeda dengan pertunjukan Ramayana Ballet di Candi Prambanan yang hanya dilaksanakan pada hari Selasa, Kamis, dan Sabtu, pertunjukan Sendratari Ramayana di Purawisata dilangsungkan setiap hari tanpa henti, tanpa mempedulikan cuaca atau jumlah pengunjungnya. Saat ini Pertunjukan Sendratari Ramayana Purawisata telah memasuki tahun ke-36 sejak pertama kali digelar. Kesetiaan dan konsistensi Sendratari Ramayana Purawisata dalam menggelar Sendratari Ramayanan setiap hari telah mendapatkan penghargaan dari Museum Rekor Indonesia (MURI).
Pertunjukan Sendratari Ramayana di Purawisata terbagi dalam beberapa babak yang keseluruhan ceritanya disajikan melalui gerak tubuh atau tarian, tanpa ada dialog dalam setiap babaknya. Alunan gending jawa nan merdu mengalun lembut mengiri para penari cantik yang menggerakkan badannya dengan lemah gemulai. Sesekali terdengar sinden mendendangkan lagu dalam Bahasa Jawa. Saat adegan dipanggung berganti dengan munculnya Rahwana atau Hanoman dan pasukan kera, gending pun berubah menjadi rancak. Panggung semakin ramai saat adegan perang dimulai, dan pertunjukan semakin memikat saat terjadi adegan Anoman Obong. Usai menikmati pertunjukan, Anda bisa mengambil gambar bersama pemain di atas panggung.
Selain menyajikan pagelaran Sendratari Ramayana, di Purawisata juga terdapat Gazebo Garden Restaurant yang bisa dijadikan lokasi dinner romantis atau tempat merayakan kebersamaan dengan orang-orang tercinta. Biasanya wisatawan mancanegara membeli tiket terusan untuk makan malam di Gazebo Garden Restaurant sekaligus menyaksikan pertunjukan Sendratari Ramayana. Tak hanya itu, Purawisata juga menyediakan paket pernikahan dengan konsep garden party yang mampu menampung 1500 tamu undangan.
